NASEM will host a public online event on Suicide Prevention in Indigenous Communities

This workshop is hosted by the Forum on Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders and sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Mental Health, Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

About this event

The second webinar of this 3-part series will focus on evidenced-based practices currently used in Indigenous populations to combat suicide.

Sessions will:

• Highlight current suicide prevention models and frameworks used to prevent suicide in Indigenous Communities

• Discuss the barriers for implementing and sustaining suicide prevention programs in different tribal communities

• Explore other innovative practices to combat suicide in Indigenous populations
