Jing Wang is a Senior Vice President of Baidu, Chairman of Technical Strategy Committee and General Manager of Autonomous Driving Unit.
Mr. Wang joined Baidu in April 2010, and has since founded Baidu’s Mobile Cloud Business Unit, Big Data Group, Infrastructure (Cloud Computing) Department, Baidu’s R&D Center in Silicon Valley, California, and in Shenzhen. He also founded Baidu Research, to focus on AI related technologies. Recently, he founded the Baidu Autonomous Driving Unit.
From 2010-2015, Mr. Wang led development of commercial products and technologies for Phoenix Nest, Baidu’s online advertising platform, resulting in a tenfold revenue increase during that period.
Mr. Wang led the creation of Baidu’s Big Data Engine, its “Big Data Plus” Platform, its Open Cloud platform, and the Baidu Brain AI initiative. He has actively supported Baidu’s cutting-edge research in voice and image recognition technologies. His early moves in high-performance and heterogeneous computing based on ARM CPU, GPU and FPGA enabled Baidu to leap ahead of competitors globally. He also pushed forward the development and application of autonomous driving technology, accelerating the deep integration of Internet technology, business model and automotive industry. The first road test of Baidu’s self-driving car, in early December 2015, proved to be very successful.
Mr. Wang is Chairman of the Technical Strategy Committee, Baidu’s highest technical decision-making body, which assumes the responsibilities a CTO will normally take in other high tech companies.
Mr. Wang was promoted as Senior Vice President in December 2013.
Prior to Baidu, Mr. Wang held senior positions in Silicon Valley companies, including Oracle, Informix, and E-Loan. After returning to China, Mr. Wang served as Senior Technical Director at Alibaba, and later as the CTO of eBay China, general manager of eBay China’s R&D Center, and Deputy Managing Director of Google China’s R&D Institute.
