Elliott H. Margulies, Ph.D. joined Illumina in 2011 as a Director of Scientific Research. Previously, he was Head of the Genome Informatics Section in the Genome Technology Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute.
He completed his Ph.D. in Human Genetics at the University of Michigan in 2001. Elliott’s research endeavours to decode the “language” of our human genome, with the grand goal of applying genomic information towards improving human health. His research focuses on annotating and interpreting the functional utility of genomic information in a clinical setting.
He also leads the development of methods and ecosystems for population scale sequencing, analysis, and aggregation of genomic and health information to enable scientists and clinicians ways to improve our ability to understand and interpret individual human genome sequences.
